At Fractional Toys, we understand that your pet is also a family member and an important part of your vacation experience. Our rental policy lets your entire family enjoy the outdoors without having to leave your beloved pets behind.
However, there are some rules and regulations outlined on our pet addendum page you must agree to before experiencing the great outdoors with one of our campers or motorhomes. Before you book your next pet-friendly trip, be sure to familiarize yourself with Fractional Toys rental policy and pet addendum.
With that in mind, we’ve provided some tips for taking your pet along with the family while renting our campers or motorhomes. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us today.
Take Your Pet Outside As Often As Possible
The best way to keep the camper or RV from collecting hair, stains, and smells, is to take your pet outside as often as possible. They are more likely to use the bathroom outside, shed more hair outside while soaking up the sights and smells of the great outdoors, and exploring the wilderness around them.
A pet that is cooped up inside an RV may get into mischief, soil the carpets or furniture, and excessively shed all over the RV while experiencing anxiety from a foreign environment. Your dog or cat is likely to enjoy the trip more outside since they get to stretch their legs and explore the area.
Designate a Bed or Floor Mat
You may want to designate a place for your pet to sit or lay inside the RV. Since space is limited, find an area where your dog or cat is not in the way. Choosing a spot for your pet may keep it from roaming around inside the RV - something that can only lead to trouble.
Brush Your Pet Regularly Outside
One of the best ways to keep your pet from shedding inside the RV is to brush them regularly (two to three times daily) while they’re outside.
It’s also a good idea to groom your four-legged friends before your trip using a shedding control shampoo. Trimming their hair is especially helpful during the summer months when pets shed the most. Foods high in omega-3 fatty acids can help smooth your dog’s coat and moisturize the skin to keep fur from falling out.
Keep Food Out of Reach
You can’t blame your dog or cat for wanting to eat food that you have left out on the table or stove. Your best option is to remove the temptation so they don’t get curious and cause damage. We recommend that you store all food items in hard-to-reach places. Place all cooked food in airtight plastic containers to reduce the smell as much as possible. Do not leave any snacks, such as chips or cookies lying around. A motivated, hungry pet will always find a way to get to the food.
Provide Chew Toys for Your Pets
The best strategy for keeping pets from chewing on motorhome furniture, carpets, or other items is to provide distractions, such as a favorite chew toy. Try to purchase toys that do not crumble up or tear easily. These types of toys are messy and can end up all throughout the inside the of the vehicle.
Clean As You Go
Rather than allowing the pet mess in the RV to pile up over the course of the vacation, try to clean out the RV as the pet makes messes or clean up once or twice daily. Bring a broom, mop, or a hand-held vac with you to tackle the messes as they occur. You may also want to purchase some stain cleaner that lifts the stains without hurting any of the material inside of the camper.
